Our first ACCIDENT and our first KOA...

Pulled into Fancy Gap KOA and found the last remaining spot in this small camp ground, which is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge parkway. We don't have much to go on, but we both agree this has to be the friendliest camp ground we have encountered to date. Everybody from the cashier to the man that helped us angle in has been cheerful and (seemingly) happy to see us. Quick to offer a helping hand or give advice on activities at the camp ground and surrounding area. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night. Fortunately --because we only stayed one night-- we didn't need to unhitch!!

The camp had a Halloween parade and other fall-related activities the night we were there. So all the campers were out in their lawn chairs giving out candy as the children came around in their costumes. It was a really enjoyable time.

The following morning, tragedy struck! Our FIRST accident.. or should I say, we were the victims of an accident. Another camper, with a brand new motor home on their very first trip were leaving the camp with their awning still extended (such newbies). Lorraine saw them coming and tried to wave them off but they kept coming. The driver thought she was just being friendly and waved back. It took her stepping in front of their moving vehicle for them to finally stop! Their awning scraped the side of our RV leaving a black streak but no physical damage.

They were very apologetic. We took their pictures just in case:

When I texted them a few weeks later to let them know everything was okay with our RV, he responded:

"Spencer, how could I possibly not remember you both! It was the high AND low of our first camping experience. Thanks for letting us know. I figured it was easily buffable but wanted you to make that decision. Sharon and I wish you all the best in this chapter of your life and after as well. We hope we meet you again on the road, but not quite in the same way. Jim n Sharon Wilson."

Hard to stay angry with people that nice!

Here are a few more pictures we took at the camp. If you are ever in the area and need a clean, friendly camp ground, this is the place for you:
