Spartanburg, Greenville and Clinton, SC (Magnolia RV Campground)

We are staying at Magnolia RV Campground in Kenards, SC.

This location is a good jumping off point to many of the area attractions. The first place we visited was Spartanburg. The city was founded in 1785 and was named after a local militia called the Spartan Regiment in the American Revolutionary War. The Spartan Regiment, commanded by Andrew Pickens, participated in the nearby Battle of Cowpens. The town has a quaint historic district where we spent a lovely afternoon:

The second place was the tiny town of Clinton (more on this tomorrow).

And then off to Greenville to walk the paths of Falls Park on the Reedy. This is an amazing attraction and a true asset to the city.

"It starts right in town in Falls Park... inviting trails and gardens greet visitors, leading off to a revitalized Main Street, with local shops, craft-beer pubs, and a global array of restaurants." - LonelyPlanet.com

We were able to watch the Eagles vs. Broncos game at Carolina Ale House where we had the pleasure of running into a few other Eagles fans. It is mighty fun to talk football when your team is on a win streak! Eagles won 51-23.

We had some very nice neighbors at our RV park. The first is Nevel, born in South Africa. He and his wife have just finished traveling the country in his RV for eight months. They just bought a home in the area.

Nevel not naval!

We also met Lynn and her dog, Sophie. She is a former nurse who just sold her belongings in Maine and is traveling the country, by herself. We had an enjoyable time talking with her about our families, over a campfire.
