It's a "Keysie" Thing

Updated: Jun 18

We spent a total of nine days in the Keys and traveled from Key Largo to Key West. We ate at many wonderful restaurants, kayaked, hiked many nice trails, went sight-seeing, toured storm damaged areas, and laid soundlessly on the beach. In hindsight, we probably could have seen it all in seven days but all-in-all it was a wonderful experience and glad we added it to our itinerary.

The area was still recovering from Hurricane Irma which slammed into the area in September of 2017.

Here are some pictures I took while traveling in the Keys. The devastation was pervasive:

This abandoned motorcycle had washed up on shore.

Key deer are through out the Keys. They are about the size of a large dog. Sadly, it is said that Irma destroyed 25% of the deer population. This poor guy had an injured back left foot.

Roosters and chickens roam the streets in Key West. They rule the roost! In fact this rooster was directing traffic!

Some of the most beautiful sunsets we've ever seen were here in the Keys. Life is good!
